Dental Law Claims

Restorative dentistry claims includes such treatment as fillings, both tooth coloured and silver (amalgam), crowns, bridgework and veneers, implants and root canal therapy (RCT). Restorative dentistry in its broadest sense involves the restoration of oral and dental tissues for patients. When restorative dentistry is carried out properly, a dental patient can expect their treatment to last a number of years or sometime the rest of their life.  If the dentist has been negligent, some restored teeth can quickly fail causing pain and suffering and costing large amounts of money to put right.

Bridges

A bridge is a fixed restoration usually used to replace a missing tooth or sometimes a number of missing teeth by joining an artifical tooth to adjacent teeth or sometimes using a dental implant.

There are many different types of bridges but the main drawback which results in many dental claims is that the dentist must prepare the abutment teeth and sometimes this causes major problems such as over preparation causing sensitivity.

 

Another problem with bridges that give rise to dental claims is that the bridge is unstable and often leads to abutment teeth having to be root canal treated. Sometimes the bridges are simply ill fitting.
